BIG DISH GO LEGEND RETURNS FOR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Big Dish Go is celebrating turning eight by inviting back a firm favorite from over the years. Luke Vibert is a man of many aliases (Wagon Christ, Amen Andrews, Plug, Spac Hand Luke and many more) who manages to appeal to a very broad demographic. He is a true legend of electronic music and has remained fervently productive for well over a decade. It is quite remarkable he is not a household name like his mates Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. A return to The Underground for this one is fitting, as the venue was Big Dish Go's stomping ground for so many years. Warming up the new Funktion-one sound system there will be the Wicklow king of live acid Automatic Tasty and Robbie Ryan who returns from down under.

RAYKO DISCO EDIT KING!

First off take a quick listen to this tune...

Nice aint it? So it's time for some dancefloor disco action. It will be Big Dish Go's first gig in Lesson Street's very stylish Sugar Club, "A venue to die for" as described by the Irish Times. Headlining is Rayko, a prolific Madrid based Producer and DJ deeply influenced by the artists and sounds of the 70′s and 80′s (mainly Disco, Electrofunk and Rock). He has an impressive portfolio of releases under his belt and what seems like an almost insatiable thirst for editing both classics and lost gems in his distinctive and infectious style. In support we have Nightflight DJs and Keep Schtum aka Michael McKenna. Michael is our own Irish King of the disco re-edit with a few thousand followers on Soundcloud, his hugely popular tracks have been getting support from DJ's worldwide, including the likes of Greg Wilson and DJ Harvey. The line up is spot on for the many boppers still high from Chic at Forbidden Fruit Festival hours before.

A LITTLE ROMANCE???

Pheck going out on the 14th. Why not surprise your partner and bring them on a romantic evening to Hell for Valentines? It will be sweaty, sexy and filthy if thats what your into? And sure if not you can head down for some turbo dancefloor funk to swoon and swing each other around to. Sounds like the perfect date? And if you are single then dam them all to and get down for a rave anyway.

DJ HELL
An unequivocal industry visionary, DJ Hell's career has embodied and then transcended his many guises: Anti-Superstar DJ, International DeeJay Gigolo Label Boss, GQ Man of the Year, Playboy, Jetsetter, Bon Viveur, Munich Machine. Seeing, and envisioning - that is of enormous relevance to Hell. He managed to convey pure artistic prowess as well as pure style during his thirty year DJ career. The individual look, the do-it-yourself approach, the elitism. Another legend plays Big Dish Go, dreams keep coming true. Need proof he is still hanging around the gates of? Check out his recent Boiler Room set:

DMX KREW

DMX KREW is one Ed DMX from Britain, legendary radio show host, dj, live act, pioneer and the rest. His workload as a purveyor of 80s-style funky electro has been amazing: on Rephlex Records, his own Breakin' label, and many more.  Dance floor ravers and groovers excite.

WHAT A LINE UP!

What a line up if we do say so ourselves! Tim Sweeney is a guest we have been trying to make happen since the dawn of time. If you aint heard of his "Beats in Space" radio show then you are in for a listening treat, check out the archive and you will notice our ould pal Smagghe is a regular among other Maestros. Tim Sweeney is a hero to many throughout the world and who better to support but a local legend; Billy Scurry. How could you miss that? Well, insert spanner in works here because upstairs on the stage we are so very glad to welcome back the fuzzy-edged synthy, pounding acidic techno beatster Nathan Fake. The Border Community man will be playing his live show and spinning before him is a Big Dish Go disciple; Evlis, who was missing for some time while roaming the earth only to return with the title of "Grandmaster"(as if we didnt know already), check out his mix just below he made especially. Setting the tone for the night are resident DJs Gavin Feeney and Barry Redsettaz. Put em all together over two rooms with amazing soundsystems and what you got? A tricky decision of where to be and when but we reckon these are the best problems to be faced with!

And by the way much love and big respect to you all for 2013 x

DA BOYS!

Once upon a time there were two young boys who felt they had something simple and beautiful to say. They wanted to talk of love, joy and being touched by life. Their names are Superpitcher and Rebolledo, together they are Pachanga Boys and they are trying to make the world a better place with their Hippie Dance record label. Or so say’s their mission statement on Kompakt.FM. In a very short space of time these “two young boys” have made a very large impact on the electronic music scene with one of the biggest (and arguably one of the longest) tracks of the last 12 months, Time. With their most recent release, Christine, currently doing big things on dance floors and their new artist album due to drop later this month, it goes without saying that we are super excited to have them over to Dublin this December to play alongside our international resident and collaborator Ivan Smagghe. Both Superpitcher and Rebolledo have serious pedigree in their own right with acclaimed releases such as Rabbits In A Hurry and Super Vato respectively. Their sound has been best described as “off-kilter dub, house, disco with some post-punk influences that venture down that mysterious road known as avant-pop”. Drawing from a lot of influences, one could say then. Ivan has been waxing lyrical about these guys work for some while now so we felt that it was about the right time to invite them over with him. This will be a new departure for Ivan as it will be his first gig outside of Kennedy’s for us. Expect big things to reflect the bigger venue!

ANY EXCUSE FOR A PARTY!

7th Birthday! We can't quite believe it. A quick thanks to everyone that's danced and made Big Dish Go so much fun for us over the years. Sure we are going to keep going, battle on and continue to bring you the music. Why not use this as excuse for another big one? So we have a mouth watering international double header with the best of local support.

One of our most highly regarded artists within the British techno/electronic scene. Half of the legendary British Murder Boys with Surgeon. Banging bliss guaranteed.

This quote pretty much nailed our definition of a DJ in their of description of him: “A stupidly talented mixer who never forgets that a DJ’s primary role is to get people dancing. And he will certainly do that” – The Guardian

Fran Hartnett - Live
(Audio Assault / Mantrap / Stasis)
Best thing to come out of Dublin the techno scene since sliced bread.

ARE YOU HARD ENOUGH??

PET DUO

From the darkest and most intense dance floors of downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil, arose PET Duo, the brazilian DJ couple most known for their mind-bending, forward-thinking and ass-shaking 6 decks techno sets. With a daring and challenging taste they bring together all their musical influences, such as Rock, Hip-Hop, EBM, Classical, breaking barriers and always opening new doors with their “No Conformists” attitude of playing fast and hard Techno. Using 6 CDJs, 2 mixers and effects or performing Live, they’ve developed their own way of playing which they intertwine one another’s music, working as a team to build a characteristic wall of sound. Adding to that their personal attitude as followers of DIY culture, they control all aspects surrounding their music: designing and programming their website, label artwork and producing tracks by themselves, making it all a mirror of their souls. All the while, not forgetting the dance floor where they came from, PET Duo are first clubbers and music lovers, they are profound believers of a bilateral movement that brings DJs and public together into one unforgettable experience: Unity through Music!

King Cannibal

King Cannibal (b. Dylan Richards, aka Zilla), is a London, UK breakbeat / breakstep / dancehall / drum and bass / dubstep artist. He signed to Ninja Tune in 2008, following projects on Combat Recordings, Kriss & Rag & Bone Records - which crafted his ferocious take on dancehall & filthy bass-driven beats. HIs songs feel like an invitation to come along and do some damage together, a call to arms in many ways much like protest music. A combination of industrial sonics and dancehall rhythms make his sets exhilarating to experience. Like an attack on the sci-fi present, King Cannibal, hits with an extreme force. Be prepared!

PROUD TO PRESENT A NINJA TUNE PARTY!

Time waits for no musician – but it’s still hard to fathom how over two decades have passed since the inception of visionary independent British label Ninja Tune, co-founded by Coldcut musician/producers Matt Black and Jonathan More in 1990. From that beginning the label achieved a level of notoriety quickly, due to its funky style and commitment to eclecticism. Key in the labels success was the constantly growing roster of very different sounding artists including Amon Tobin, The Bug, Bonobo, Mr Scruff, Toddla T, and The Herbaliser . Ninja now has a well respected Hip-Hop arm in Big Dada, a legendary series of mix CDs/ Radio shows (Solid Steel) and some awe inspiring stone-love compilations... the ZEN collection. The label is fresher than ever and we are proud to present this special Dublin show. NOT TO BE MISSED!
