BIGWAR 6

“The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemies.”
Napoleon Bonaparte

BigWar weighs in for the first bout of 2012! The location of the chaotic battlefield will again be the dance floor in the Undergound @ Kennedys. The atmosphere will be thick with industrial broken and 4x4 beats from two of the best techno producers in the world today, Bas Mooy & Radial(aka Jeroen Liebregts). These two are co-owners of the fiercely consistent Audio Assault label from The Netherlands. The label was founded in 2002, followed up by subabel ARMS in 2003. Since its begining it has gathered more and more followers across planet earth. Many years now the masterminds Bas Mooy and Jeroen Liebregts have guarded the imprints pure underground vibe and mechanical roughness with their life! Both men are established as solo producers and as part of various collabs. Their stunningly powerful sound has triggered the imagination of many. They bring you high quality no-nonsense techno from established as well as upcoming producers from all over the world including Dublin's own Fran Hartnett. Just listen through the Audio Assaullt catalogue and you will witness a mind blowing, solid concept. We are very excited to say Bas Mooy and Radial will play one hour each and then back to back for the final hour, a scuffle never before witnessed in Ireland. Speaking of which, t he Irish talent doing support on the night is our own resident and promoter Keylockd. This confused youth plays dnb, electro, getto tech and everything and anything inbetween but he mainly focuses on the harder side of the techno spectrum. RUMBLE!

Death in Vegas DJ Set (RICHARD FEARLESS)

With all the shadowy enigma of Neu! or Throbbing Gristle, one of the most exciting and unique artists to emerge from the ’90s UK dance scene, is making a stealthy return. Richard Fearless, aka Death In Vegas, cut some of that era’s most unusual records, fusing electro, dub, rock, psychedelia, soul and solid-gone experimentation to create a sound that was spacious and other-worldly, while also segueing with the pop mainstream.

After seven turbulent years, which have seen him up sticks for New York, form a raw-power rock & roll band, and eventually move back to London again, Fearless is back as Death In Vegas, releasing his first record under that alias since 2004’s ‘Satan’s Circus’.

Called ‘Trans Love Energies’, it marks a return to his roots in minimal techno, deploying the rudimentary gear behind all the classics of the original Detroit/Chicago era to try and spirit up fresh atmospheres. It’s the kind of eerie, nocturnal and often compulsively toxic record, which only Fearless could make, yet which feels thrillingly of-the-moment. His time is now, once again.

A BIG DISH GO DEBUT FOR NIALLER 9.....

Since November 2005, Niall Byrne aka Nialler9 (pronounced like the river in Egypt – Nile-r) has been enthusing about the music he loves whether it be indie, electronica, hip-hop, folk, dubstep or rock. The genre doesn’t matter as long as it’s great. As Duke Ellington said “There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind.”

Nialler9 is the most-read Irish music blog with around 35,000 unique visitors per month. The site has been a recipient of five consecutive awards in the Irish Blog Awards for Best Music Blog (2007-2011) as well as Best Music Site at the Irish Web Awards in 2009. Most recently, Nialler9 was voted the 5th Best Music Blog In The World in a poll of music blogging peers. Contributors include Aoife Mc (voice of the Podcast) who also runs I Can Has Cook? and the Right Click Radio show on RTE 2XM.

6TH B-DAY and X-MAS BASH

Super big thanks to all that came along for one of the best nights of the year.

It was a line up that combined not one but four of our favourite DJs; Donal Dineen, Billy Scurry, Jon Averill & Little Dave. All of them hit the mark and more on the night. And with hordes spilling out of Primal Scream there was a really big night had at The Underground. Incredible atmosphere!

Lil' Dave finally made his Big Dish Go debut in Kennedys. As a resident at Nightflight and Pygmallion is an ever present and always enthusiastic name on the scene.

Jon made his name as a promoter and DJ through his involvement in club nights in Dublin from 2004 such as Space Camp, Backlash, Shock and Nightflight before decamping to London in back in 2009.

Donal Dineen is a much needed antidote to the acquired DJ accents & pre-determined playlists which seems to the standard in Irish broadcasting when he started on Today Fm back in 1997. he has been a leading figure in highlighting fantastic music both Irish & international ever since. The sheer volume of music that Donal has turned us on to could fill several record boxes alone. His long running stint on Today FM finally concluded this year but Donal's impact on the music scene in Ireland has been so vast its hard to quantify and we look forward to his next project with anticipation. We we're elated to have to play at this party, he was fantastic on the night.

Billy Scurry finished off the night. Still a massively respected talent, Billy came to prominence in the 90s holding down residencies at clubs such as The Temple of Sound, Sides, The Kitchen and The Ormond to name but just a few. The fact that he is still very much in demand is proof enough of his abilities.

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THAT SUPPORTED US IN 2011 AND OVER OUR 6 YEARS. ITS YOU THAT HAS MADE BIG DISH GO SO SPECIAL xxx

OH YES AND A MERRY CHRIMBO!
